Stone Leaf Pottery Doesn't Honor Price Match: Over Charged $249.23
by Never again... , 03/03/2015
My husband ordered a Skutt KM Firebox 8x6 Kiln for my Christmas gift several weeks prior to Christmas. After continuing to call them to see where it was (as they said it would be there in time no problem), it arrived in Denver on Dec. 23rd, 2 days prior to Christmas. Problem, they use some shipping company they don't know the name of or have a phone number for, just a email address, and they could not get it from the shipper. In fact we did not get it till January 6, exactly 2 weeks later. Of course at no fault of their own. Totally out of Stone Leaf's control. And for ruining my Christmas gift they would give us $50 off. I did a google search for this Kiln to discover Clay-King.com sells the exect same unit that we paid $838.11 for, for $588.88, no tax, no shipping and guess what they use UPS and FedX, real shipping companies. We paid 1/3 more than we needed too for shopping local. On top of messing up our Christmas. But don't worry Stone Leaf offers a price match on their website... note they have a line in there that they may not be able to match such great prices. Which they didn't, but they would give us a half the amount they should have refunded CASH in a gift certificate to Stone Leaf. No mention of that trick in their price match. You don't really get your money back, SURPRISE!! So with the mark up they have on their items I figure their actually cost will only only be $35, but we are still out $200, because Yes I want to shop there again...MORAL OF THE STORY: SAVE $$! Compare the two websites and prices of items you're getting at Stone Leaf with Clay-King.com, and you'll see why I'm a Huge Clay-King.com fan!! Great prices, better selection and customer service minus all the unacceptable excuses.
Happy with their products and services

I've been very happy with the products and services at Stone Leaf. They special ordered low fire clay for me, and it arrived quickly. I was also able to call Laguna directly for specs on products, which they provided immediately, and they also sent out a sample for me to try to consider for my next order. For big orders, pallet sized orders are available. I'll shop there again. Thanks!
A helpful and competent resource

These folks are knowledgeable and willing to share information. They have a good and varied supply of clays, glazes, and underglazes. I appreciate their customer service and willingness to go the extra mile.
Excellent Service and Teachers

My 1st visit to Stoneleaf was in search of a tool that I had used in a class. I didn't find it, but they offered me a catalog to look through to identify it and they ordered it for me. As soon as it came in, they called and let me know it was ready for pickup. Since then, I have taken special workshops, and various classes, alway finding a very friendly atmosphere and everyone is extremely helpful. I do animal sculpture and have a problem with getting the right glazes from where I take classes. I came in with the problem and solutions were offered as well as the best glazes to use. The end result was amazing. They are my principle supplier, and I find myself taking more and more classes there. They have a wealth of knowledge and fantastic classes. Thanks Stoneleaf
The BEST place in Denver for playing in clay, and for pottery supplies :)

I am a student at Stone Leaf and have been since last fall. I have to say that I absolutely LOVE it!!! Everyone that works there is very knowledgeable about all of the aspects of working in clay - from the different techniques (hand-building, slump molding, throwing on the wheel, etc), through the very complex process of glazing and firing. The classes are free-form so you can utilize the instructor team to your best advantage by focusing on what your passion is. One of the greatest elements is that there are multiple instructors and each of them is so different. You can study with any and/or all of them in order to leverage the knowledge of each teacher. I have to say, I never walk away from a class without learning something very valuable. :)In addition, I have never worked in a studio that is so big, clean, well laid out, cheerful, and inviting. When I got back into pottery, I was a little worried about working with so many other artists and students because pieces get
Don't Expect Help of Answers

IF you go to Stone Leaf Pottery make sure you know everything you need to know about your pottery needs before you go. They will not offer any helpful information at all. All of my questions were met with "I don't know" or "I'll have to look that up". Guess it was the first day on the job for everyone there.
Better than the other ceramics supply

Stone Leaf always has the clay I want. They are always friendly. If they stocked a few more tools it would be nice, hence my four star rating.
Never will I recommend them

By far this is the worst place to purchase anything. I went in there for a few things and they were not helpful at all. As far as their clay goes I have used Laguna clay and it's CRAP. I have been a potter for 30+ years. It is in the worst part of town and I would never want to go there in the evening. You have to wind around streets in an industrial area to even find the place. Parking is minimal and they little to nothing to offer. Their stock is very low on everything. They know very little about pottery in general let alone how glazes fit certain bodies of clay. They think that they are teachers and in fact know nothing. This is not a supply business!!!!! There is a much better one on the other side of town. I will never again step foot in Stone Leaf.
