Filed for my claim disabled 12-2010

Still waiting for the ALJ hearing for my case which this lawyer says could be in Jan. 2014. The wait is as disabling as the physical and mental problems I am having. I have not got much confidence in this lawyer, who has only contacted me by e-mail 6 times, whenever SSI asked her for some form or responded to my requests.I have done all the footwork that a para-legal should do, gathering info, med. records, files from disability workers comp etc.My 'case' is only as strong as her input and it will remain to be seen if she 'works for me' or not. Her contract has added language so that she can bill you extra for gathering records etc., I can only imagine even if I win I feel like she may take it all anyway. She seems to know how to get around the safety and protection that was set up to limit how much a lawyer can take from you monetarily. If I win this case it will be interesting to see what the bottom line is.The long wait is ridiculous and I can't help but wonder if I should have gone with a major company as my friends have and they got their cases heard and won in very little time. I do not feel that she is pushing at all, it's just another file waiting to come up it would seem.I would go with a well known company if I had it to do over, at least I would have the illusion things were moving along.

reconsider your options

I was told karen stolzberg was a good choice for anattorney reguarding my ssi claim. when i met with her she was rude, condesending and not very helpful. i had the distinct impression that she's only into taking easy to win cases and not intristed in representing or helping people with slightly more difficult cases. my advice to anyone looking for a lawyer with fight in them don't bother karen stolzberg she does not have intrist or the time shes only into easy paydays...

A secure feeling through difficult times...

It has been the most difficult two years of my life since I became disabled. I had a white collar, good paying job and two wonderful teenagers. Then, my world was thrown out like yesterday's newpaper. When I finally realized I could no longer work, I started filing for social security disability benefits in June of 2011.I felt confident going into the process as I has some familiarity with the required paperwork and steps to complete an application. I had all my medical records and, my primary physician was in agreement. I was denied twice by the end of August 2011. After all the time and energy I had expelled in learning how to be disabled, losing my job, changing my life -- then, to be denied after arduous hours filling out forms... I no longer felt any "fight" left in me.I asked a good friend who has worked with SSA who he would recommend as an attorney. One name came from his response, Karen Stolzberg.I arrived for my appointment and was immediately validated and put at ease by Debra, the receptionist and Ms. Stolzberg during my interview. The brief interview by Ms. Stolzberg was easy and the paperwork was too. I never had a difficult time with communications from the office or return phone calls. I was kept up to date on any case changes or needs. I received a phone call in April of 2011, the best phone call in the last two years. Ms. Stolzberg had been able to have my case reviewed by a senior attorney / disability analyst with Social Security. I was approved! I did not have to wait for a hearing before the judge which was another year out.Through the hard work of this office and its' attorney and staff, I was able to receive my benefits that I have worked so hard for all these years. I was able to spend time resting and recouperating while the process was addressed for me and, with peace of mind. While this process is different for everyone, I would strongly encourage anyone considering filing for disability to make an appointment and speak with Ms. Stolzberg and staff. The professionalism, knowledge, experience and friendliness will provide much security and comfort to anyone applying for disability payments.
