The company is a principle supplier of phthalic anhydride, a commodity chemical employed in polyester and alkyd resins. Its polyurethane polyols and foam systems are components of thermal insulation. Stepan maintains a network of production facilities located in North America, South America, Europe and the Philippines. The company was founded in 1932 and is headquartered in Northfield, Ill.
