Steamworks Brewing Co. Opened its doors in Durango in September 1996. A favorite watering hole for locals and visitors alike, the brewpub has much more to offer than award-winning craft beer. Known as a town meeting place, Steamworks enjoys a bustling, fun environment. Steamworks' culinary program is unmatched in the region in both breadth and quality of offerings. The "gastropub" fare includes regionally-raised meats and sustainable seafood. Healthy salads, delicious pizzas, spicy Southwestern-style dishes, and vegetarian & gluten-free offerings provide something for everyone who's hungry. The Steam Engine Lager is "arguably the best American - Style Amber Lager in the world" as it has garnered four Gold Medals, a Silver and a Bronze Medal at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) over the years and also has taken a Silver Medal at the World Beer Cup (WBC). Steamworks has won a total of twelve GABF medals, and two WBC medals. The brewpub maintains up to 18 styles of beer on tap.Steamworks Brewing Co. Opened its doors in Durango in September 1996. We tried out steam works after an all day drive to Durango. Awesome pizza (maui-wowwi), great beer (steam engine lager and kolsch is what we tried) and the service was excellent! Good way to kick off our vacation.

This brewery is a fun, chill place to grab a beer. The selection is good and variety of menu items. Good service.

Can I give it zero stars?

If you like horrible service, horrible, overpriced food and a horrible hangover after drinking just one of their beers, then, by all means, go to Steamworks. Otherwise, avoid this place like the plague. I used to go there fairly regularly, but my opinion of the place deteriorated with each soggy, slow, rudely served, expensive meal, and the throbbing headache the next day from the beer. The last time I went there, mid-afternoon on a weekend, my party of three sober, clean, moderately dressed, women was told they would not serve us - AT ALL . The place was open and other people were sitting at tables apparently being served, but for some reason, we were not what they wanted in customers. If you want a brewpub, go to the place in Bodo Park.
