Provided by YP.comWe came here late at night Saturday July 28 since it was the cheapest place to stay around. I found cockroaches in room 139 when we went in, and went back down to the front desk immediately. We ended up going down to the lobby to get a refund. The girl at the desk claimed not to know how to process a refund. She offered another room even though she had originally told us that she had rented us "their last room." We told her we were uncomfortable staying there, so she said the manager would call us the next day to process the refund.
We had to go there instead because he would not answer the phone. The first thing he did was imply that he would not give us a refund, even though he did not explicitly state this, to get a rise out of me. He then pretended to call the police. He faked calling by pretending to dial numbers on his phone without actually dialing, and said we refused to leave. He had not asked us to leave. After that,I told him to refund the money onto my account, and he said he would the next day. He was very smug, terse, and overly defensive the entire time.
I ended up calling the Bucksport Police and had an officer mediate the situation. The officer told us the manager was likely scamming the system as it was a civil matter, not a criminal one, and that he probably knew what he was doing.
Today is Monday July 30. I received a phone call from a police officer from the Bucksport Police Department asking me about a television that Danny Khan claims that we had stolen from the hotel. He accused us of stealing and called the police, seemingly just to get out of a refund. This whole experience has been emotionally draining. Old decor is one thing, the lengths that he has gone to to avoid refunding me is obscene. This is not a "you get what you pay for" situation in the slightest.
If you have stayed here before winter 2017/2018 and had a good experience, I found out this is not the same owner. He bought out the hotel from the previous owners.
