HOME OWNER BEWARE -DO NOT ALLOW Gene Skinner or Matt Skinner of Skinner Plumbing & Heating in your house or sign any contract with them as we have learned the hard way

-We hired Gene Skinner through a co-worker who said they offer discount plumbing.We gave Gene Skinner $5000 payment on a $7800 job and months later the job was never completed and only about 2500 worth of work was done.Just to get that portion of the work done we had to file a complaint with the attorney General.

Gene requested that we pay the full 7800 before even 1/3 of the job was complete

Who does that ?

We tried to resolve this issue with Gene but to no avail as we feel he was trying to rip us off completely by asking for full payment before work was done

-After no resolve, we then had to get approval from the citys plumbing inspector to finish the work ourselves as Gene Skinner had not purchased any permits for the work and left our project in limbo

The citys plumbing inspector was on our side and agreed to let us finish the project along with help from Kirchgessner Plumbing & Heating

We then found out a lien had been put on our property by Gene Skinners relative James Skinner of Rehn & Skinner law office of Galesburg

We not only had been ripped off by Gene Skinner the plumber but now his relative had put a lien on our property without any notice asking for another 2 grand

We challenged the lien and it was deemed invalid

The plumbing inspector was on our side.

He made calls to both skinners & they knew that he would dispute them and they did not pursue the issue

Years later the Galesburgs citys plumbing inspector has passed away and James Skinner of Rehn & Skinner law offices decided this was the perfect time to sue us as we would have no proof as to the details of this project as our only witness had now passed away

This is what kind of people these 2 skinners are

What kind of person does that ?

We were then sued in small claims court and we counter-sued

We still have not received any resolution except to pay for everything twice and incur courts costs as well.

If you make the same mistake we did by hiring Gene Skinner

-Ask many questions and talk in depth with Gene Skinner about your job and the time frame of completion as we were lied to and had our whole project put on hold because of his incompetence.

Make sure you get a date of completion on your contract if you dare take the chance of doing business with them.

Look them up on BBB.Org (better business bureau) and you will see they have an F business rating which is the worst possible

Don't make the same mistake we did by listening to the cheap deals they have to offer as you always get what you pay for & we didnt even get that.

We then hired Kirchgessner Plumbing & Heating to help fix the problems created by Gene Skinner.Dan Kirchgessner was honest and did very good quality work.Everything was completed within a few days from point of contact.We recommend Kirchgessner Plumbing & Heating if you have any issues in or around Galesburg.
