Jewelry Repair Review
by Norm Church , 03/03/2014
I recently had a gold ring repaired at Silver Lining Pawnshop on Sandy Blvd. in Portland. My ring was a channel-set diamond ring and the channel set was wearing down at both ends. They did the repair and the ring came back looking like new and I was very satisfied with the work. I have purchased a number of used items at Silver Lining and I always get good service and good prices.I would recommend Silver Lining to others for jewelry repair or for purchases of used items.⦠Norm Church
Stop here first!

I recently purchased two rings from Silver Lining Jewelry and I must say the staff was very friendly, knowledgable, and there was absolutely no pressure or uncomfortable sales tactics used by big box jewelry stores. To top it off they have an excellent selection and we were able to save thousands on an antique engagement ring that was nearly identical to one at a boutique jewelry shop downtown. I strongly recommend people look here before going anywhere else! Thank you Silver Lining!

My experience at Silver Linings has been exceptional due to the fine assistance from Kay. I had jewelry that needed to be resized. I appreciated Kay's expertise to accomplish this. Now I can wear my rings again!. Thank you Kay.

The employes were very nice and they had great service every time I come. I got more money than I was expecting for a loan.
Lost a great customer. Forever.

For the last six months on a regular basis I have been coming into Silver Lining for loans. Specifically on my laptop computer. Every interaction in the past was always great. The staff was always friendly, courteous and timely. I am only paid once a month. Basically a fixed income. Each month I would come in, with the same laptop, and get a loan. Enough to get me through until payday. And every month, without fail, I came in an retrieved my product. The loans they gave me helped keep me fed and a little spending money in my pocket and I was always grateful for the help they gave me. Today was different. The gentleman that helped me this morning declined my loan due to a missing key. A key that has been missing for the last 4 months. For some reason, today was the day they decided to follow rules that I had no knowledge of. Had I known this would be a problem, I would have fixed it, 4 months ago. The gentleman helping me basically stated that he couldn't help me because of this missing key. After I pointed out how many times I have brought it in and how many times I have consistently returned for the item, and always on time he simply said "yes I can see that you have been a been a great repeat customer but I'm sorry to say that I cannot help you." Even though I only needed the loan for 8 days with my payday next week, something that would be would also reflected on my loan history. I understand the importance of rules. Perhaps this should matter should have been brought up 4 months ago when the key was broken, or sometime during the last 5-6 loans I've had on the same item from them, key broken and all. After calling and asking to speak with a supervisor so I could let him know my...displeasure..I was told their wasn't one available. I recognized the mans voice as the person who declined my loan just minutes before. I did not let him know that I recognized him. I asked him to pull up my history to see how consistent my business has been with them, once a month I come in and get a loan and without fail, I always return for my item. Always on time, usually before the due date. Several of these loans have sometime been for a week or less. This gentleman then claimed to know who I was, what had taken place, and that the man helping me was the owner. Even though he couldn't look up my account at that moment because he was busy. This confirmed to me that the man I was speaking to was the same man who declined my loan. That, or he's psychic, as all other representatives were assisting other customers during my attempt to get another loan. My best guess is that he was the owners son. Not a complete fabrication of the truth I suppose. After telling him they have lost a good customer over this his attitude, was that it doesn't matter, we have rules, you are one customer. We can handle losing one customer. Long story short, I understand why rules are important. So if anything, they need to re-train their staff, since I've had 5 loans on the item with the key missing. That's at least 5 times their staff has failed to follow correct protocol. Might be time for a staff training meeting. It's also unfortunate that they do not mind losing good customers, "it's just one customer", right? Well sir, everyone I have had interactions with at this establishment has always been friendly, courteous, and genuinely concerned about providing the best customer service possible. Except that "one guy". Well, that "one guy" just lost your business this "one customer".
A truly remarkable place to shop

Silver Lining is place that I look forward to visiting. I have, over the past several years, purchased sporting goods, tools, electronics, and bicycles from Silver Lining. However, Silver Lining shines most (pun intended) through the fine work of the jewelry department. They have produced some truly unique, that have come to be cherished by my wife. No challenge seems to discourage these folks, when it comes to locating exquisite and unusual gems, and then creating fine pieces of jewelry. They manage to do this, while making the experience fun. Earl has assembled a great team, at Silver Lining, and it shows through their knowledge, and dedication to customer service. These are the attributes that draw customers back.

I have been shopping at Silver Lining for a few years now, after consistently shopping at another in town. Their store is very nice and spacious! I mainly shop in the jewelry section but I know if I was looking for anything else, I would receive the same helpful and friendly service. Whether I've been looking for something new, having something repaired or creating and manufacturing something from scratch, they have exceeded my expectations in price, quality of work and service! Kay's expertise has been very helpful.I would highly recommend shopping here!

It's a clean, well-lit, spacious store with good prices. When the employee who helped me asked how much I expected for my items, I (knowing how bad a bargainer I am) sighed inwardly and said "$200". He eventually countered with $400! They're friendly and honest and my only regret is that they don't fix cars.
Great Prices, Fun, Friendly Staff and Quality Merchandise

Best shop in town. From tools to electronics and jewelry, Silver Lining is the first place I stop when I look to find a quality item at a more than fair price. I have been shopping there since they've opened on Sandy Blvd. The jewelry I have purchased has been top notch at a fraction of the cost of retail and the tools, electronics and instruments all still work great. The staff is always there to help with questions especially when finding that special holiday or anniversary trinket. Love the 30-day return policy especially for gifts. Never had a problem returning items when they didn't quite work out. Definitely five stars out of five.

When you need to get a loan from a pawn shop, you can figure that "times" aren't exactly great. I have been getting loans since the 1970's for my jewelry on and off. I'm smart enough to know that the interest that I pay is substantial, however when I need the money, I want to go to a place that values my property and treats me with respect. Silver Lining does this. Everyone that I've dealt with there is professional and kind. I feel respected and honored. It makes the tough times a little easier. Thanks, Silver Lining!
