What follows is my account of ...

What follows is my account of interactions with Sierra Bella salon for my July 2011 wedding. Appointments were made several weeks in advance for me and 4 other people in my bridal party. Please read if you are considering this salon for anything important.

Saturday (one week before the wedding) Came in for hair/makeup trial as part of a mani/pedi/hair/makeup package. I really liked my hair by Nick, and unfortunately the makeup person was having a family emergency so I was told by Sierra that we would reschedule that. Word around the salon is that Nick was going to a concert in Southern California the weekend of my wedding. Makeup trial was never rescheduled, even after calling the salon to request this.

Saturday (day before the wedding) Trisha gave me a manicure and pedicure. She was professional and on time. Salon is still talking about how Nick is at this concert; I asked if he would be in tomorrow for our appointment. I am told yes, but that he will be flying in that day and won't be in any earlier than our appointment at 12:30.

Sunday (DAY OF THE WEDDING) 11am, ONE AND A HALF HOURS before my appointment: Sierra calls me and says that she has no makeup specialist and has been on the phone all morning (why didn't she call me sooner???). This time the makeup person is sick and won't be able to come in (never met her or had a name). Sierra basically has no solution to that problem, and then tells me Nick is not available either due to "a family emergency where he had to fly to LA". Due to previous conversations I knew he was already in LA before that night, and immediately knew she was lying. She then asks me if I can get everyone in EARLY, since it's only her doing all 5 people's hair. Then I am told that she can do my makeup but I have to bring in my own kit because she doesn't have one. At this point I give up and resign to figuring something else out, the salon is fired. My husband calls her back upset, she magically comes up with a makeup specialist. By this point, we are done.

Tuesday (2 days after the wedding) Nick calls wanting to talk about the missed appointment. He leaves a message saying that he was held up due to a delayed flight and that the makeup person now has had a death in the family. Lie #3 it seems, for both people...although at this point I don't really care anymore, I just want my $100 deposit back.

Wednesday, my husband and I go down to talk to them. They are full of excuses, completely insincere, and can't understand why we would be upset that we were lied to repeatedly. After a heated exchange on both parties, we simply demand our money back and then we will leave. They can't figure out how to put the money back on my credit card. Nick goes to the bank (after complaining he has clients and can't leave) and gives us our cash. Trisha is nice enough to actually come outside and talk to us to apologize; she was paid for her services and does a great job.

This is the most unprofessional business that I have EVER worked with. We live locally and were appalled by how we were treated. By recommendation of Sierra's mother I chose this place, and if I had seen a bad review online I may have made a different choice. I would not wish anyone to go through what I did, the stress of it was so unnecessary. Now three days later, I am still thinking of all the ways that things could have been handled differently to ensure that we would be happier with our experience. Things that come to mind are, being honest, using the several days beforehand to figure out a backup, and calling me much sooner to give me the heads up that I might have no hair and makeup on my wedding day. While mentioning our experience around town, we have discovered that we aren't the only ones who will stay as far away from this place as possible.

Much Needed Salon!

Excited to have found a salon in Incline that is clean. I can't tell you how many times I have had my hair done and gone and taken a shower. My hair looks great and I loved the owners, a married couple. I will be back, you can count on it!!!
