Welcome to Security First! We are a Public Non-Profit Corporation, established in 1981. We have been serving the families of Eugene and the surrounding area for over twenty five years. Our overall goal is to provide top quality, comprehensive, and affordable child care services while also providing good, competitively paying jobs to the care-givers. We are pro-active in lobbying on behalf of parents and workers, and we actively support all efforts to promote quality child care locally and nationally.We believe that all children go through stages of development, but not necessarily at the same time. We regard each child as an individual that needs to be challenged to acquire new skills and to achieve new levels of interacting with other children. This is accomplished in an environment that encourages children to explore, create, and experiment naturally through their play.
Our goal is to create a safe and stable environment that parents and children find supportive and comfortable. We want you to experience the center as bright, clean, and stimulating. We want babies and young children to trust that all of their needs will be promptly attended to. We want parents to know we will always handle their children with love and respect for their needs. We believe that building strong self-esteem prepares a child to live happily and creatively throughout her or his entire life. This is an essential beginning for a non-violent and peaceful approach to living in our world. Underlying all of our program activities is a commitment to multicultural, anti-bias ethics.
The center is licensed and inspected annually by the Child Care Division of the state. CCD can be reached at 687-7392, extension 4273. We are also inspected annually by the Sanitarian and Fire Marshall. A copy of the CCD codebook and the inspection reports are available in the office should you wish to look at them.
Security First participates in U.S. D.A. food program. The following, is the official U.S. D.A. non-discrimination for Oregon; “The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the State of Oregon prohibit discrimination in all USDA programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, or disability.”

Dangerous Medication Protocol by Jex - 10/03/2008Removed our 20 month old daughter in October 2008. The reason we chose to remove her was that the center administered 21 doses of Benadryl to her without any documentation and without telling us. When conferencing with the director and the head teacher we all summarized three known incidents when Benadryl was administered properly. There were 21 other times that no employee from the center could account for. They have no records for when meds are given, how much is given, by whom it is given, and the reason it was given. They have no internal protocol to make other employees at the center know medication has been given, so over dosing is a serious issue. Since the center does not tell parents medicine was given there is potential for over dosing after the child has been picked up.
I could not recommend this center to anyone and regret ever having placed my daughter there. Facility is also very dated, crowded and price is too high for what they offer.
