Hurt,Confused and Angry

I met with the owner of this business on a Friday before memorial day weekend. It went well. He said he would get me a bid next week after the holiday. That was fine. On Wednesday, I recieved an e-mail from him as promised very nice and polite with a sketch drawing of what we talked about. He also made some recommendations on some changes for me. I responded and agreed with him and asked what was his timeline if we were to go with his bid and also asked him if he had my bid proposal ready yet? I did not hear from him. I e-mailed him on Friday and asked if he was still there. He responded a little defensive by letting me know that yes he was and that he worked certain hours and if I needed to get in touch with him that I could call his cell #. He also responded to let me know that his install timeline would be in July. Let him know if that would work for me. I again responded thanking him for the update and that July timeframe would work for us. I asked him again if he had my bid proposal ready. I then recieved an e-mail message back from him stating as quoted "Unfortunately our current schedule will not allow us to bid your project. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you." I then responded in a short version that I obviously offended you in my communication to you somehow and would like to know what I have said and done to obviously change your mind so quickly and not want to do business with me. I never said anything derogatory or belittleing to him. I never even got mad at him. All I did was ask when would I be getting a bid from him when he promised me one. I asked him to at least give me some respect to why he turned me down and I have not heard anything from him. I'm not one to beg someone to do a job for me and at this point I would never have him to do the job. I've gone from being hurt and confused to now being hurt and angry. I've shown my corresponding e-mails now to some close people to me to see if they can give me some reason as to why this company treated me this way. Most men reading this are laughing and would just drop this issue. But for a woman, we tend to wonder day and night what did I do to deserve this lack of respect this person is showing me. Especially if it is someone who really cares and I do. If I had been mean and we had an argument then I would not be here talking about this confusing issue to me. I too own a business and I have fired customers too but they know why and for me to ever turn business down it is because that customer got very hostile and verbally abusive and I realized at that moment it wouldn't be a good working relationship with this person. Again, that never happend and I'm still confused. I'm not here to bash this company but to share with others my personal experience and hope it doesn't happen to them. So, as for his work goes I'll never know. The pictures I saw in his ad were nice looking and looked like he did a great job. He really impressed me with giving me upfront a list of his references and other jobs he has done. He did show up late to our appointment and I was OK with it because he was respectful to call and let me know. My experience with this company would have been better had I was given the respect to know what I said or did to make him not want to do business with me.
