Randy's had been our hauler since the early 1990's. Their predecessor was firmly between four and five stars for service, and Randy's started out being near the high end of the three-four stars. Once they made the transition from "Randy's Sanitation" to "Randy's Environmental Services", their customer service, both at pick-up and over the phone, dived to rock bottom.



The last straw for us was an encounter with an argumentative employee over the services included in our account. When Randy's bought out our original account, we were allowed to keep a plan that allowed for extra curbside bags at no extra charge. We regularly confirmed that this plan was still in place. Today, we were not only told this was no longer our plan, but that we NEVER had such a thing. Instead of checking our customer history, the phone rep insisted on telling us how long she had worked there, as if that proved anything about the status or changes to our account.



In our area, there are several authorized haulers. You will do well to choose an alternative to a company that has lost its way.

I have been a customer of Randy's sanitation for 15 years. I realized a few years ago that they were charging us considerably more than the competition. Price increases without notification is standard for them - the increased price on the invoice is your notification. Also, keep in mind they bill in 3 month increments and if you cancel early you do not receive a refund for an unused service. My advice is to shop around elsewhere. Request the price including fees and tax to get the true picture. Randy's fuel charges/fees are higher than most. I found a competitor with a better price and a good reputation. When I spoke to customer service on the phone to cancel, I tried to explain why, but they were not interested in hearing it.



Last year I contacted Randy's with a competitors quote. They offered to match it if I agreed to a 1 year contract. I did so. When the contract was up, I contacted them 4 days before invoicing to inquire if the price would go up and if so how much. Their response was " ...no price increase has been imposed yet. Each billing cycle your account is reviewed by management, same as all customer accounts. You will be notified by your account invoice if a change is upcoming. " When I received the invoice 4 days later, the price had drastically increased (it was much greater than 30%). I find it hard to believe they didn't have access to this information when I contacted them the 4 days earlier. Also the word "upcoming" implies you will receive prior notice. Don't count on it.



Now my cancelation isn't in affect for 3 months, because I have to wait for the next invoicing period for it to take effect. Otherwise I don't get a refund for services. Eventhough I contacted them on the 1st day of the billing period. I believe that is the true reason they didn't have an answer for me 4 days before the invoice. Otherwise I could have canceled and they wouldn't have gotten the extra 3 months at a higher rate from me. This is poor business practice.



I will say that even though I am not thrilled with their customer service or their billing practices, I can highly recommend the truck drivers. They never missed a pick up. On occasion when people incorrectly thought it was a recognized holiday and didn't take the trash to the curb, the drivers would walk to the house to retrieve the can which was not required but greatly appreciated
