Qualistar Colorado is a non-profit dedicated to promoting the school readiness of all Colorado’s children. Qualistar offers free child care referral services to all families living in the state of Colorado. Now in its fifth year, Qualistar works across the state to improve the quality of early childhood education and helps parents find and choose high-quality child care.

Qualistar Colorado's free services include:

• Referrals to child care in your area
• Personalized phone and website referrals tailored to the needs of each family
• A partnering network of 17 referral agencies with local knowledge of child care providers, their hours of operation and available slots for children aged 0 to 5 years old
• Information on Qualista- rated centers and family providers
• Access to full and part-time care options
• Resources for families seeking subsidies and tuition support
• Educational resources for families with infants, toddlers and pre-K children
• Assistance finding care for children with special needs

Last year, Qualistar’s network of 17 child care resource and referral agencies made more than 20,000 phone referrals to parents for child care. Parents generated an additional 60,000 referrals using Qualistar’s interactive website.

Nearly 35,000 children are now enrolled in child care centers that have earned the rigorous Qualistar Rating™. This four star quality rating and improvement system identifies the strengths of early learning programs and provides them with detailed plans for how they can improve the quality of care they provide. Currently 27 percent of Colorado’s licensed child care centers are Qualistar Rated and provide care for 35,000 children throughout the state.

Research shows that children who enroll in high-quality early learning programs, especially low-income children, are more likely to stay in school, attend college, earn more money and work in highly skilled jobs than peers.
