I am the mother of a child who was, until 4-9-14, a student at Pioneer. My 9 year old son was attacked in December, by 2 boys after school and started hitting him gloves filled with rocks. Reported it to the school, and called the sheriffs. KCSD took a report but said it was the schools problem not theirs.

The school suspended the boys. They should have been charged with assault with a weapon and expelled. January 16th, my son was repeatedly kicked in the ribs by 2 older girls so bad that there was severe bruising on his ribs he was excused from school for a week and from all physical activity until 7-28-14. The girls responsible were only suspended. In meetings with BCSD officials, and Pioneer's staff, they say our son causes these problems.

4-9-2014, I put my son and his younger sister on Independent Studies, (Which I might ad, was NEVER mentioned to me, and I did not know existed for grade school) they will do school work at home, and turn it in to the teacher once a week or so, and i can accompany them for that. They will be on this program until we move out of CA. on 5-4-14.

We have tried everything to get Pioneer to do something, but they just deny there is a problem, and insist our son is bringing it on himself. Even if my son were to use the worst insult the world has ever heard, it still doesnt give anyone the right to physically harm him! The teachers and staff should pay better attention, and give harsher punishments for bullying. Not to mention, they should expel those who use weapons or cause a kid to need 6 months to recover..

If you are reading this, and your children are bullied at a Bakersfield City School District school, you can contact BACA, (Bikers Against Child Abuse) we started working with them, but now we are leaving, and the kids aren't going to be attending regular school.

My advice is to talk to your kids, ask them who else is bullied. Talk to the other kids' parents, ask friends if their kids in other BCSD schools are being bullied. Get as many parents of bullied students together as you possibly can, and contact a law firm. Sue the district for not providing a safe environment for your children. And for god's sake, someone contact me so my son and I can be a part of it!

e-mail me if you have questions, or are seeking out an attorney against BCSD.
