So happy this restaurant is on the west side of Rockford! While I'd travel across town to eat there, it's great to know it's just minutes away. The menu, especially the updated one in the last couple of years, and beer list is amazing. If we ever are unsure of a beer selection, a sample is always available. Service is great and the atmosphere welcoming. On the odd occasion that there is some problem, the solution is always acceptable. I just wish they'd add breakfast to their day!

Since are were new in the area we are going every weekend to different restaurants and places. We got a visit from Virginia and we wanted to take her to a nice restaurant but our surprise was that when we when there, nobody bother to give us a sit or approach us so we decided to sit down by ourselves, after 15 minutes waiting, STILL NOBODY came to welcome us or at least offer a beverage...we were so embarrassed with our guest. We left the place and the staff was still at the bar. As somebody below said:

we were waited on and got our drinks the lemonade was so sour we had too rexchange it for something else. so we ordered our food, saw our waitress leave for the night and about 30 min later our food came COLD. we never saw the waitress again for refills or to even ask if we wanted a refill. when she noticed we were done she came over and asked how it was and i explained that the fries were cold and the sandwiches were also cold she asked why we didnt say anything to her.. i said you never came back over here HELLO! she said i could have yelled for her. didnt know i had to yell for a waitress for service. sorry wouldnt recommend this reastaurant i get better service and hotter food at mcdonald's!!!!

I really don't know why this place has been in buisness for so long. It surely isnt the food or service. The food is bad the service is worse. Server didnt know anything about menu or beer. We never got our salads, and paid over $25.oo for a overcooked steak. The waitress asked if we wanted her to take it back. We did she showed up about 10 minutes later and informed us that the manager and chef didnt think it was overcooked that is was a perfect medium rare.The manager wouldnt even come over and talk to us when we asked to speak to a manager. I would not recommend the olympic tavern to anyone. Bad service, overpriced,overcooked and a bad manager.

Close to the heart of the city of Rockford IL is a restaurant/bar called the Olympic. When the weather is snowy the huge fireplace, vaulted pine ceilings make one feel as if they were at a resortt in the North woods of Wisconsin. The summer patio completely surrounded by trees offer privacy from the busy street but a summertime feeling. The food is served in enormous amount-salads,pastas and sandwished are better than most restaurants.
