Get your estimate in writing! by RLC - 03/20/2008There was a small crack in the top piece of the radiator in my car. We called Northwest Radiator and were given a quote of $130 TOTAL ($35 parts, $10 shipping of parts, $85 for labor). We agreed to the terms, dropped the car off. Today when they called back, the total cost is $350. They really couldn't care less about what they told us on the phone. In fact, the employee on the phone even admitted that he remembered quoting $130 but has no hurt feelings about marking that up more than 200%.
If you choose to use this shop: get your estimate in writing and refer to RCW 46.71.025. This is the law that states they cannot mark up the total price more than 10% without calling first.
