Portland's best vets by Scott - 04/16/2009
I have 2 Irish wolfhounds and wanted a vet with large breed experience. I asked around and North Portland Veterinary Hospital was recommended by several people and breeders. Everyone there has been wonderful. The staff always take the time to answer all my questions and explain everything clearly. The care my dogs receive is outstanding and I know they are in good hands whenever I need to take them in for a checkup or anything else. The waiting room is bright and cheerful, and parking is never a problem.

I wouldn't take my cats anywhere else. Dr. McCoy is one of the top vets in the country, and he spends more time with my cats than any doctor has ever spent with me! He's kind and careful to explain everything. When I had to have my cats euthanized, he was as caring as he could be and came in during his time off to do it himself. This is a beautiful clinic with great parking and plenty of room. I love it!

I take my two 3-yr old cats to the North Portland Veterinary Hospital. They have always taken time to clearly explain any potential problems they see, to answer my questions and give suggestion (such as how to stop scratching on furniture). They are gentle but firm with my 10 pound "panther" who appears to hate going to the vet worse than I hate going to the dentist. On the last visit they had a procedure worked out to minimize his stress and acting out and was able to accomplish his check up and even clip his claws. Their waiting room is large, light, open and has divided areas so that you keep your pet somewhat separated from others to lessen their stress.
