Fast, Friendly, and Honest Work -- Excellent Experience!!
by AdamBryner , 10/08/2014
We broke down on our way through and ended up needing some major work done to our diesel. Under pressure from the campground owners because of the upcoming balloon festival we needed to get our truck up and running fast. Conveying this to the shop, they put extra hands on our project and got it completed within 2 days before the weekend. Thanks to Jimmy, Don, and their mechanics!

Taking our 2006 Chev truck to NM Diesel Power We found the most capable and honest people to do business with. The fixed the problem with no trouble. With what we know was a reasonable price. We felt as though they wanted so much to help us. Thanks to Donnie, Jimmy, and to Debbie who also was so kind. Erna and Douglas.
Great Service Out of Town
by Dan84 , 07/01/2014
My wife and I recently got married and are traveling on a 7000 mile honeymoon roadtrip from Alaska to New Mexico, Florida, and up to New York. We needed to have a noise looked at; we had been pulling a heavy trailer up 8-10 percent grade mountains in over 100 degree weather. We also needed an oil change, because we'd already travelled 4000 of our 7000 mile trip. The folks at NM Diesel power got us in quickly and back on the road. They were friendly, and excited to hear about our trip. Jimmy was our mechanic and was very good at communicating with me. If I lived in Albuquerque, they would be my preferred mechanic. They did an awesome job.
Great to deal with

First time through Albuquerque and decided to have a scan done on our truck to see if some issues could be cleared up. They repaired only what was needed so that we could make it home to Canada and suggested we do the other work needed at home. Great people to deal with.

I was sold a lemon from a Ford dealership in Colorado. It started overheating in just a few miles after hooking it up to our 5th wheel. We took it to NM Diesel Power and within an hour of looking at it, they told me that this truck was not worth the trouble when they could have made a bundle by putting a new engine in it and charging extra for me being stranded.Instead, they proceeded to help me by faxing all their diagnostics to the dealer. They then stored the vehicle for me for 2 months while we waited for resolution from the Colorado Board of Dealerships. These guys are straight shooters. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate their help.
Our Family Auto Repair Shop
by Wendy , 03/19/2014
Our family moved here from AZ a little over 10 years ago. For the first 4 years we bounced between some unreputible repair shops. Then I took a shot and picked the one closest to our home. To my amazement, we found the most honest and best repair shop we have ever used. We had an older car that we used for business that had a lot of miles on it. By the time we donated the car last year it had over 300,000 miles on it and still ran great. We are a family of 4 cars and no one works on them except for this repair shop. They have worked on both import and U.S. made cars for us and we have been more than satisfied. They charge a fair rate and provide excellent service, but most of all they are honest!!!
Excellent service, reliable, fair price, thorough
by New Mexico Diesel Fan , 03/10/2014
I have been doing business with NM Diesel for 5 years now. I have had no "call backs" because the issue has always been corrected the first time. I travel almost three times the national average (easily >45K miles annually). It is comforting to know that my vehicles are mechanically sound as I travel through New Mexico and West Texas. I trust them completely with their diagnostics and solutions. I wished all businesses were as ethical and honest as NM Diesel.
Way Too Expensive
by Outch , 12/30/2013
I was told that it would cost $101 to diagnose my car on their computer and that $101 would go towards any repair. Their scope came up with nothing, and he said he was not sure what was wrong with car, so they suggested I start off by changing the spark plugs and wires, and quoted me $314. $314? What part of that $101 went towards changing the spark plugs and wires? I probably would have gotten the work done if they would have put the scope charge towards the repair like they said they would. I picked up my car without having any work done, it cost me $108.61 for nothing but a headache. I took it to another place and was charged $140 total for putting it on their computer, changing plugs and wires (he said that the spark plugs were clearly shot and that was the problem). He even fixed my back door that would not open from the outside.
Stranded 60 miles north of Albuquerque
by Stranded on highway 550 in NM , 09/03/2013
New Mexico Diesel Power was the best thing that could have happended to us after we broke down. We broke down on the top of the hill on Highway 550, 60 miles north of Alubuquerque, while returning to Texas from vacation. The tow truck driver from Cuba, NM, Floyd Lovatos, has all his work done at New Mexico Diesel Power in Albuguerque. He gave me their number and I called Don Phol, owner of NM Diesel Power, and told him what was going on; and he said he would get to it in the morning; and get us out of town as quickly as he could. He also explained very simply what could and could not be wrong with the fuel system. He was right. They were closed when we got there. I looked in the windows of the garage and the front office. The shop is more orderly and clean than my house, much less our garage. I met Donnie the next morning and gave him the keys. He called me back a hour later and told me what was wrong and gave me the estimate. He also told me that we also needed two factory recalls performed. He called the dealership and told them I would be calling. I was back in our 7.3 diesel Excursion by 1:30pm, 24 hours after we broke down. We went to the dealership and we were out of there in an hour, with a clean bill of health; and both recalls were completed. The truck is up almost 2 mpg in fuel efficiency and is running smoother than it has for two years. I got to meet Donnie's wife. She runs the office and is super. I think she is the reason it is neat an orderly. I wish we had a place like that at home. They are great. Breaking down turned out to be a great part of our vacation. From George the mechanic in Cuba, to Floyd, to Donnie and the NM Diesil Power folks, and to Tomas at the Power Ford Dealership. We spent two nights, went to the movies and returned home rested. I can't forget Pastor Dave who stopped and took our phone number and had George from SJ&G garage call me. George called Floyd for towing. I am a fan of NM Power Diesel Power in Albuquerque.
