The Museum of Science & History, also known as MOSH, was founded in 1941 as The Jacksonville Children's Museum. The museum specializes in organizing several physical and natural science exhibitions. It showcases various coral reef and freshwater tanks. MOSH s aquatic exhibition is supplemented by educational text panels. The museum s freshwater spring cave tank features a range of fishes, including redear, albino catfish and American eel. It also conducts daily science and planetarium shows. MOSH maintains interactive and motion-sensored information stations at each exhibition to explain the scientific principles behind several experiments. The museum additionally features a science theater and aqua exposition. It exhibits various mammals, such as whales, dolphins and manatees. MOSH s Florida Naturalist's Center displays species of American alligators and gopher tortoises, as well as native snakes and birds. The museum organizes Camp-Ins for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Its gift shop offers a selection of interactive kits, games and books. MOSH receives funding by the City of Jacksonville and the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville. Admission: adults - $10; students, military, seniors (55+) - $8; children (3-12) - $6
