Monterey One Water (M1W) is a public agency dedicated to meeting the wastewater and water recycling needs of its member entities while protecting the environment. The agency was formed in 1972 to create regional efficiency in the processing and treatment of the wastewater from its member communities: Boronda, Castroville, unincorporated Monterey County, Del Rey Oaks, Marina, Monterey, Moss Landing, Pacific Grove, Salinas, Sand City, and Seaside. A board of directors representing each jurisdiction governs the agency. M1W operates the Regional Treatment Plant located two miles north of Marina. Each day, about 17 million gallons of wastewater are processed at the plant, which serves 250,000 people. The agency also maintains 25 pump stations connected to the treatment plant.
