Despite fewer fleas in the cooler months, Charleston SC veterinarians recommend that you endorse a prevention plan that spans the entire year. Treating the secondary infections caused by the bites of fleas takes time and money. Please adopt the yearly flea prevention plan recommended by your Mount Pleasant veterinarian. Just wanted everyone to know that we at Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital and Shuler Veterinary Clinic have added a new web page to our site. Right now, we have only one form on that page, but it will really enhance your first visit with us in that it is the New Client Form. You can now print out the form, fill it out at your leisure at home, and bring it with you instead of taking the time doing so when you visit either of our Mount Pleasant SC Veterinary Hospitals. As always, we invite you to let us know how we can better serve you. One of the ways to do that is by using our Contact Us Page. Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital Receives Award Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital Receives Award Mount Pleasant Mayor Billy Swails recently presented an award to Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital. The award was from the Mayor and the Town Council in appreciation of over 50 years in business and continual contribution to the Mount Pleasant business community. Receiving the award were Dr. Kevin Shuler and retired Dr. KC Shuler. The 50 years started when the late Dr. J.O. Shuler opened Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital in 1959. MPAH was the first full time veterinary hospital in the town of Mt. Pleasant. It had the first X-ray machine "East of the Cooper" and was used in emergencies for both people and pets. In 1968 Kenneth (K.C.) Shuler joined his uncle J.O. in practice. KC's son Kevin and his wife Laura joined the practice following their graduations from Veterinary School and took the helm after Dr. K.C. retired in 2005. Check out the demolition photos next to our Animal Hospital on Highway 17, Mount29464 below. This is the first time you will be able to see the back side of Shuler Veterinary Clinic and the neighboring grooming building. As you remember, that building used to be Pet Keepers II Boarding Kennel. Not to be outdone, we put a fresh coat of paint on our Mount Pleasant Vet Clinic and we soon be doing some landscaping to blend in with our new neighbor. Watch the progress as you drive by on Highway 17. It seems as though Mount Pleasant Town Center is almost including Shuler Veterinary Clinic We are starting to do short videos about Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital and Shuler Veterinary Clinic. Most of these will be posted on our Videos page. The ones that aren't posted there will alway be available on our Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital YouTube channel or our Yahoo Video Page. There is a great article in University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine 2007-2008 Report to Donors. The article talks about how memorial contributions to honor pets are not only being made by owners, but also by the pets' veterinarians. The story tells of how Dr. Kevin Shuler made a memorial gift in honor of a customer's springer spaniel that had died. The owner was so moved that he contributed $25, 000 to the New Teaching Hospital Building Fund. When interviewed, he told of how Dr. Kevin Shuler was a wonderful sincere caregiver, and that he and his father, Dr. K.C. Shuler, had taken care of his pets all of their l
