Morning Star Resort is located on the northeast shore of beautiful Lake Andrusia, a 1600 acre lake on the Cass Lake Chain of Lakes. There are eight lakes on the chain which all have excellent fishing and can be accessed by boat. We're 14 miles east of Bemidji and 7 miles north of the town of Cass Lake, so shopping and entertainment is close by. The Palace Casino is only few miles (10 minutes) away.
We are situated in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest with the beauty of the north woods all around us. We're a small, family owned resort, with a lodge offering a grill with great food and a full service bar, serving beer, liquor and lots of Shirley Temples. The lodge offers a big screen TV, a game room with video games and a pool table, and a Karaoke machine for lots of late night fun.
Our cabins are nestled in the trees near a sugar sand beach providing excellent swimming fun for all ages. Each cabin has a fully furnished kitchen, and full size bathroom, also a picnic table, charcoal grill, and individual fire pit. A dock slip with electrical hookup is provided with the cabin rental. We offer a secluded spot for your relaxation with beautiful sunsets, eagles, and loons for your enjoyment.
We are a four-season resort, open year-round with a large variety of activities with each new season. We accommodate families, fishermen, hunters, snowmobilers, cross country skiers, ice fishermen and scrap booking groups. Don't miss out on our spring and fall fishing at its best, catching plenty of Walleyes right off the dock.
* Winter - We have fish house rental on Lake Andrusia, and special rates for cabin rental. If fishing isn't your thing, come snowshoe, cross-country ski, or snowmobile the nearby forest trails. Buena Vista is less than 40 miles away with 16 downhill ski runs and a snow tubing park.
* Spring - Catch the early spring ice fishing action! When the ice goes out and the Fishing Opener is upon us, the walleyes like to feed right up to shore; catch them right off our dock!
* Summer - Endless activities, only limited by your imagination! We're close to many attractions like Star Island, Itasca State Park, The Lost Forty, Lady Slipper Scenic Byway, Paul Bunyan Animal Land, "Babe & His Blue Ox" in Bemidji, and the Paul Bunyan Playhouse. The Chippewa National Forest offers over 600 miles of trails for hiking and biking. The forest is home to one of the largest breeding populations of bald eagles in the lower 48 states. We're located within the Ojibwe Indian Reservation which gives several opportunities to attend Native American pow-wows during the summer and many other festivals and events in the neighboring communities. For the history buffs, visit the Fireplace of States at the Bemidji Tourist Information Center, Lyle's Logging Camp and the adjacent Cass Lake Museum, a renovated railroad depot with many Native American and pioneer artifacts. Also tour Camp Rabideau. Shopping, golfing, and horseback riding are also nearby. If you're feeling lucky, the Palace Casino is only 10 minutes away.
* Fall - We welcome bird and deer hunters! We're surrounded by many acres of public lands. For those not into hunting, there are beautiful landscapes of fall colors to enjoy, whether you are biking or hiking. Ask about Fall Color Tours that are available.
