The Millhiser Insurance Agency was established in 1928 by Harold Millhiser. The two-person office was located on the fifth floor of the Guaranty Bank building in downtown Cedar Rapids. In 1947, shortly after the end of World War II, Forrest Smith became a partner and the firm became known as Millhiser Smith Agency. The firm has been located at 3100 Oakland Road NE since 1979. Millhiser Smith currently employs 50 people and is one of the largest locally-owned independent insurance agencies in eastern Iowa.
