Metal Treaters Inc. has the longest continuous ownership in the metal treating industry serving Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.

Thomas Roberts established the company in 1948 as a tool & die heat treater. He oversaw the growth of the company until 1970 when the operations were taken over by his son Dale Roberts.

Although MTI began as a tool & die heat treater, the company now offers full service capabilities that include: Vacuum processing of the tool steels, induction, carburizing, neutral hardening and salt bath nitriding (QPQ).

MTI's most recent acquisition is an Ipsen International furnace that unquestionably offers premier vacuum furnace technology, featuring a quenching capability up to 12-bars!

Through steady growth and careful attention to the needs of precision manufacturing, MTI now processes about 200 jobs per day for a broad range of customers. Customer satisfaction is demonstrated by customer loyalty.

Among the distinctive features of MTI are the knowledge and experience of the staff. The Management team, has over 125 cumulative years of experience. Workforce turnover is low. Therefore, the skill and understanding of critical handling requirements is high.

Knowledge and skill, along with a 60-plus year tradition of providing the customer with quality workmanship, enables MTI to provide support to over 900 satisfied customers.
