Messiah Lutheran Child Care Center is a Christian preschool, kindergarten and full day child care center for children aged 3-6. Summer programs are available for children up to the age of 10. Ten week parent-tot sessions are available for children 18-36 mo. old during the fall, winter and spring. A 7 week Parent-tot session is available during the summer.
At Messiah CCC, we have a play-based, educational curriculum which provides a structured day's schedule, within which the children are offered open-ended activities encouraging them to explore, create and socialize with their peers and teachers.
During the week, the children participate in daily prayer, story, lesson and art times, as well as weekly chapel, Spanish lessons, music, and classroom visits from Messiah's pastor. The children are introduced to age appropriate cognitive and motor skills throughout their learning experience.
Children experience addressing neighborhood social concerns through their weekly food donations to the Maine Township Food Pantry and through the annual 'penny collection' during the Lenten season, which also supports the Food Pantry. Monthly, a class of children walk to St. Matthews Retirement Center and spend a morning participating in activities with the senior residents. They have decorated cookies, had Halloween parades, sung, played bunco and decorated gingerbread houses together.
Our goal at Messiah CCC is to provide a nurturing environment where the individual physical, emotional, cognitive, social & spiritual growth of each child is encouraged and celebrated. This is accomplished by developing safe, enriching Christian learning environments that promote:
• A growing relationship with Jesus by modeling, teaching and practicing age-appropriate components of spiritual development
• loving, nurturing interactions between educators, children and their families
• Inclusive, anti-bias curriculum and policies that reflect the diversity of children and families in our community and the world around us
• A commitment to exceeding the standards, goals and practices of ECC Certification of the ELEA, the State of Illinois standards for early childhood education and the DCFS licensing regulations of the State of Illinois
• Continuing staff growth and development in faith, in understanding of how children learn, grow and develop, and in ways to support parents to the fullest
Messiah's early childhood programs began serving the community in 1966. Parents have enjoyed the flexible arrangements available at Messiah-2,3,4 or 5 days, pre-school hours, half day or full day schedules or a combination.
Messiah welcomes you to visit our school by calling to schedule an appointment. More information can be found on Messiah's website.
-"As my daughter finishes up this wonderful year,I find myself reflecting on all the years that my children spent in the reliable and loving hands of Messiah. It is a great and comforting feeling to be able to hand you child over to people who you know will help guide her & teach her with a loving and patient hand. You all live the values that you teach the children."
