emergency room

by shocked and appalled , 02/23/2010

My visit was for a thumb laceration in which i sliced the tip of my thumb with a blade. I waited 3 hours in the emergency room with a bloody napkin around my finger holding on the tip of my thumb while waiting and waiting and waiting for attention and care. once served they asked me how long since it happened and seemed shock that i told them how long i waited. i received 2 stitches from a nurse who could not give me proper lidocaine injections and poked around my thumb longer than it took to irrigate and clean it. then the bill came some time later and i was shocked at the charges of $718 for 2 stitches and waiting 3.5 hours... insane!I would love to know how much simple visits like this would cost before entering the facility. It's outrageous to me that these methods of care cost so much, when they are a simple procedure for a medical "professional". I hope Mercy looks at their care charges in depth and re-evaluates their services
