Very sad- I have been a Malleys customer for over 45 years. I have seen it go through many transitions and growth- I have served overseas and missed it! The MerrygoRound Malleys store has been the traditional favorite although the Lakewood store is our homebase. Two years ago, I took my niece to celebrate her first day of Kindergarten to the Merry Go Round Malleys as is tradition. Looking forward to celebrating there, it made the day even more exciting. Unfortunately, the waitress made our experience a sad one. Even after me smiling telling her what a special day it was- She was extremely crabby and acted as if she were doing us a "favor" by waiting on us, She was the rudest person I have ever had contact with and certainly not the type of employee Malleys usually employs. I called the Brookpark store and was transferred to a supervisor who handles customer issues. I gave her the name of this lady- an older lady mid 60's I supposed, and she apologized for her and said she would send me out a complimentary gift certificate as an apology. I was very embarrassed this waitress worked at Malleys and said I thought she should be reviewed because she certainly does not exhibit behavior worthy of dealing with the public. She made my little niece, who is of mixed race, extrememly uncomfortable- slammed the water glasses on the table and spilled water out of them- it was just a terrible experience. To top it off she looked like a sweet old grandma which made it even worse! Well- I never received a certificate and I called the Brookpark store back and she apologized for not sending it and would send one right out. Well months and months went by and the worse thing is that lady still worked there months after the incident. I never did get that certificate. Most of the ladies working there are sweethearts beyond compare but this Bad apple spoiled the whole bunch. And to be ignored by Corporate Malleys makes it worse.
