The school is in a major transition right now. For those who have had a negative experience, try to remember that one bad experience does not negate all the good things that you have received while at the school.

I trained in TSD at Locke's Karate Academy from April 2011 through June 2014, was a member of the Black belt club from Brown belt to Black/White belt and the seamstress for uniform patches and tailoring. I do not recommend this business for martial arts. While I understand and accept learning martial arts comes with a certain level of physical contact and instruction, I have an expectation of professionalism and respect as a student, as a parent, and as a seamstress. Locke's Karate Academy did not meet my expectations.

Has helped my son immensely

My son has learned a lot. Most important is self respect and respect for others. With these improvement his grades and behavior in public school have improved greatly.

I stand 100% behind the Mission Statement. Children should in fact do as they are told. If they were allowed to do as they pleased, then what is the point of teaching them? They would not grow. Everything we do at Locke's Karate is focused on teaching life skills such as focus, discipline and responsibility. We are dedicated to helping involved parents create responsible, upstanding young adults and we do an excellent job of that. It's unfortunate that some people fail to grasp this simple concept.

Mission Statement: "I want your kids to do what they are told" What kind of Mission Statement is that? Aren't mission statements supposed to be about a business core objective? Usually based on providing a service to your customer? Is this the kind of business you want to drop your kid off to learn karate?

No Thank You - will instead put my focus on being a good parent. I certainly don't need Locke's to do it for me.

Locke's Karate Academy stands behind its Mission Statement 100%. If you missed promotions this past Thursday please read the following.

We talk about all of the things that we will do for you and your children when we go through the enrollment process, but sometimes it’s helpful to reiterate those things so that not only you don’t lose focus on those things, but also so that we as instructors keep them firmly in mind as we teach.

I struggled long and hard to come up with a mission statement for the school since I feel like we do so many different things. Ultimately I came up with something very simple and straight-forward.

I WANT YOUR KIDS TO DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD.

The Master at the school often loses his temper with the children and threatens, physically harms, humiliates or bullies the children.
