Unclean & Unfriendly
by Jamie , 07/06/2013
tonight will be the last time i ever go to the lakeo Japanese steakhouse in elizabethton. they were not cleanly with the grill and whatever mess/leftovers from previous orders was all over my zucchini & onions... i'm talking burnt, caramelized gunk. it's been over an hour since i threw up in thier parking lot, i've tried drinking & still cant get that terrible aftertaste to go away. on top of that, my waiter offered to give me an extra side of the zuchini and onions to take home along with waiving the charge of my plate & when i get the bill, he charges me $4 & has attitude when i told him i wasnt paying for something he offered as a courtesy dish. bad service, bad food, never again!
AWESOME FOOD AND SERVICE!!!!

I guess I will be the negative vote here. I ordered the following, to go: Yaki and chicken, sweet carrots, rice, extra soup. No salad; No shrimp sauce. I got: Yaki and chicken, carrots, rice, an eight ounce cup of soup, salad, and shrimp sauce. The chicken was burned, the Yaki had no taste at all; very "blah". Plus, even if the food had been cooked to perfection, there were only about ten pieces of chicken, (did I mention it was burned?), and about 15 pieces of Yaki. For the money, (I paid $16 for this!) you get twice as much, at MUCH better taste, from other Japanese restaurants.

This is one of our favorite places to eat! The food is excellent and the portions are more than enough. I can usually make 2 or three meals out of one. You definitely get your money's worth.
Awesome food & service

My husband & I ate here about a week ago, we eat out often and get tired of the same old places here in Elizabethton. As soon as we walked in and smelled the wonderful aroma in the building I knew it was going to be excellent! Our waiter was great, young & friendly! It's pretty hard to find a young "friendly" waitress or waiter...He was very polite, explained the meals to us. After waiting for only 15 minutes our food was in front of us, after that first bite we both were hooked!! It reminds me of Makatos, oh my gosh its just awesome!! I would & will recommend this restaurant to anyone, and everyone! Thanks guys for opening something other than a burger or chicken joint in Elizabethton!!

Our family LOVES Lakeo. The service is great, the food is outstanding, and it feels good supporting a local business.
Unexpected food finds in Elizabethton.

My sister and I ate here for the first time this evening and we left delightfully surprised. We walked in and were promptly seated almost immediately by a very polite woman with a huge smile on her face, warmly welcoming us to their restaurant. Already the smell coming from the grill in the back of the room was deliciously intoxicating and we could feel our mouths salivating already. A young man by the name of Chris came to wait on us and made polite conversation, joking around once he knew we were comfortable, and told us a little bit about the restaurant. "We are a family owned and run restaurant that just recently opened, so if you have any comments or advice to give us we will happily accept it," he said, once again, with a smile. Later while talking to the waiter we discovered that the owner is no stranger to the restaurant business and has been involved for over 25 years, so those of you worried about the inexperienced newly opened joint with snotty staff need not be concerned
