Charged $111.00/hr, said the problem was fixed(passenger front floor getting wet in the rain) gave a verbal assurance it was fixed. It wasn't, floor got wet again a few days later. Talk went from "it's fixed...there should be no problem now... to...well we tried...it's hard....it is what it is..." and wanted me to bring it back again so they get squirt the van with a hose, and charge more $$(my time is $ too and I could have saved both by giving that $ to a homeless person minus $5) They have a professional appearance, but their work is amateur, and their hourly rate is high. I am not a mechanic but also was genius enough to squirt water on the van obtain some info. DON'T RECOMMEND.

Very Professional, friendly, and courteous to your needs!

Love these guys! Always super nice and professional! We take all of our vehicles here for everything except warranty work as that has to be done at a dealership "Which we despise!" They are always honest, friendly and call prior to fixing any other issues they may come across and provide the price so we know what to expect at time of pick up. No surprise bill. It's always what we expect to pay. They are thorough and do good quality work! I don't feel like I am being cheated or ripped off, even if I do business with them without my husband along for the ride, I feel comfortable and confident that I am getting the same answers. :-) They are prompt and get you in and out asap. WE LOVE YOU KEN SCALES! Wish there were more Auto shops out there as good as you guys. Please keep up the good honest work. :-) "The Caldwell's"

Ken Scales is a small operatio...

Ken Scales is a small operation with few frills. That’s not a criticism.

The last dealer I went to in Southern California was all frills. It was DCH Toyota of Oxnard, a large facility. Lots of polished floors, complimentary coffee and cookies, and guys in shiny ties who sounded like they’ve just stepped out of a car commercial. But these were the guys who robbed me. I’d left money in my Camry by accident. Someone at DCH Toyota rummaged through all of my compartments and snatched every cent. When I complained, I couldn’t get anyone to contact me. No one cared.

These big dealers pay their employees badly, treat them badly, and make it necessary for them to rob you. Bad, bad business wearing a shiny proverbial tie.

Now, Ken Scales provides a different experience. He seems like small potatoes. Small office, smallish shop, not especially refined customer service, the coffee wasn’t brewed, and they were out of hand towels in the bathroom. I never would have patronized his business had a friend not recommended them.

Y’know what? You can keep the hand towels, and I’ll buy my own coffee—go to DCH Toyota for the pretty shop and the false integrity. Ken Scales and his staff are no-nonsense, honest mechanics. They will tell you what your vehicle needs, they won’t try to sell you what it doesn’t, and when they do provide servicing, they won’t charge you unreasonable prices.

Mike, who handled my 2010 Chevy Express cargo van, didn’t upsell me. I trusted and respected him to such a degree that I upsold myself. I will be returning to him for my maintenance needs--and I live in California! I’ve finally found a great mechanic, and I’m stickin’ with him.

So many people complain about how they can’t find an honest mechanic. So many people, like me, get taken advantage of. Well, this is the word of mouth you’ve been looking for. Especially if you’re ignorant about cars, you should take your business to Ken Scales.

You’ll know you’re in the right place when you spot their mascot, Rich—a yellow parakeet—singing in the office.

oregon corvette's best friend

I HAVE BEEN A VETTE OWNER FOR YEARS AND WAS THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF CORVETTE EXPRESS AN ALL CORVETTE SHOP IN VACAVILLE CA. WHEN I SOLD MY VETTE BUSINESS AND MOVED TO MEDFORD I NEEDED SOMEBODY I COULD TRUST WITH MY CARS. AFTER INTERVIEWING AND LOOKING AT LOCAL SHOPS I CHOOSE KEN SCALE'S AND HE HAS NEVER DISAPPOINTED ME. HIS SHOP IS CLEAN AND UP TO DATE. I AM HAPPY TO WRITE THIS REVIEW TO MY FELLOW VETTE OWNERS

Carefree drive to Florida

I bought a fairly high milage Buick LeSabre (140K) last spring and Ken and his mechanics did a great job for me. Several times I took the car in for repairs including a rebuilt transmission, repairs to the engine for an oil leak, minor brake work, and other jobs to prepare the car for a trip to the Atlantic, the Great Lakes, Canada and back to Medford. I left Medford January 22 and drove to Miami, Florida with one problem... a screw in the tire in Arizona. Otherwise I have about 5,000 carefree miles.
