Absolutely the Best Experience by DM Teacher - 06/20/2009I'm a mother of 2 children and a Des Moines area school teacher. When I brought my children (2 and 4 years old) into see my dentist he explained they would be best served by a specialist and referred me to Dr. Robert Burns. I'm sure it had to do with their behavior! I'm one of those extremely protective parents and want the best for my kids, so we made an appointment. When we arrived at Jordan Creek Pediatric Dentistry we were greeted by a kid friendly office and a wonderful staff. My children were immediately at ease. I couldn't have been more nervous. We were brought back to the room where we met Dr. Rob. He was extremely informative and answered my questions thoroughly. His patience with my children was incredible. They were naturally nervous. Being a teacher I know what it takes to deal with children and their anxieties; he was incredible. Also is sings during the exam so beware your children will be singing the toothbrush song at night!Thanks Dr. Rob!
waste of my time by AngryParent - 04/23/2009i based my decision on scheduling an appointment with "dr. rob" because of his friendly picture in an ad i saw. i was so disappointed after we left his office on my teen daughter's first visit because he said she needed to get her dental work done in the hospital where she could be put to sleep. she only needed 4 fillings! he refused to do her work in his office! the estimate he gave me included hospital fees etc. (not including the outrageous deductibles i would have to pay to my medical insurance). i thought he was a specialist for kids, aren't they supposed to be trained in dealing with children's needs? i asked if there was any other alternative and he said my only other option was to go to the University of Iowa's dental school? luckily, i found another dentist in wdm who had NO PROBLEMS doing the 4 fillings in their office!
We love Dr Burns! by tomahawk - 04/01/2008Dr Burns was fantastic with our 5-year-old Special Needs daughter. She's extremely orally defensive, but he was so patient and gentle with her and was able to get in her mouth and do a thorough exam. He found issues with her teeth that our other family dentist had missed for years!
