Jeffrey T. Bitzer opened his practice of law in 1982 and has operated from the same location, across the street from the York County Courthouse for over 27 years. His goal has always been to provide affordable legal services to his hometown community. By offering professional services at a competitive hourly rate, Attorney Bitzer has been able to count hundreds of York Counties as his clients over the years. Attorney Bitzer's concentration has been on Family Law. In his divorce and child custody work, Attorney Bitzer endeavors to minimize the trauma on the family by helping his clients find new and acceptable ways of dealing with children and family expenses. If your resources are limited, be certain to discuss with Attorney Bitzer how to get the most value for your dollar. Statistically, 86% of civil cases end in a settlement. The settlement gives you control over the outcomes of your case, rather than having the decision made by a Judge who knows little about you and your family. Generally, a settlement is the most economical resolution. We will often encourage clients to find a resolution by agreement and Attorney Bitzer is exceptionally creative at finding resolutions in the most difficult of circumstances. If your goal requires litigation, certainly he will prepare your matter for Court after a full consultation with you. An elderly lawyer once explained that he enjoyed being a lawyer because it allowed him to participate in important events in people's lives. Whether buying a home, starting a business, planning for the distribution of your assets upon death or determining what is best for your child; Attorney Bitzer looks forward to participating in the important events in your life. Attorney Bitzer is a graduate of the prestigious Dickinson School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland. He has been admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Federal District Court and the Pennsylvania Bar. Before attending law school, Attorney Bitzer worked for many years as a broadcast journalist in Central Pennsylvania. For a number of years he produced and hosted a popular television news legal segment called "Legal Brief". He is a retired Tenured Communications Law Professor at Shippensburg University. He has appeared in Who's Who in American Law and is a regular presenter for a variety of Central Pennsylvania professional organizations. Attorney Bitzer is married and the father of two children. He is a part-time farmer and a passionate musician. He plays bass in the community theatre pit and with several small ensembles. Attorney Bitzer's professional ability and his commitment to the best interest of children were recognized by the York County Court of Common Pleas in 1988 when he was appointed to serve as a Juvenile Dependency Master. He sits in a quasi-judicial capacity to review cases involving children who are wards of the court and in foster care.
