Artistic imagery had its roots in the Victorian Era; however, the movement of artistic photography did not appear in the US until the early 20th century. It is usually described as transforming photography into fine art and giving the pictures an enchanted, aesthetic look. Here you can see my example of such camera work. Using my artistic abilities, along with special materials and techniques, I am taking an ordinary picture and giving it an ancient, out of this era look. By applying unusual textures and enhancements (e.g. filtering in special colors, careful staging and lightning) I am converting the original picture into something unique and extraordinary. The final outcome is a real artwork. Artistic photography not only allows one to create beautiful, unforgettable pictures, it also allows the photographer to be an artist and fulfill his creative vision.
