Thank God for Dentists Who are Getting Away from Mercury
by PeeWeeFlowers , 08/01/2009
Hunting Hills Dentists' website shows porcelain crowns without a metal base. These are much safer as porcelain fused to metal crowns have nickel bases which can cause allergies. The tooth colored fillings are mercury free, but dentists who advertise they are mercury free could be disciplined by the dental board. If you need mercury fillings removed, you need a biological dentist who has received special training from holistic dental organizations like the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. Biological dentists test for allergies to dental materials and dentists are urged to use special equipment and procedures to reduce patient's exposure to mercury vapor. Protocols include the use of an oxygen mask so the patient doesn't breathe mercury vapor while the dentist drills out the filling. For a list of biological dentists contact the non profit group DAMS. Hunting Hills has a lot to offer that is much safer than other dentists in Roanoke who still use mercury.
Dissatified and Broke

I went to this office hoping to fix my smile and inprove my appearance. What I received was 5 crowns and the exact same smile I walk in the office with and a bill for $6667.00. I'm too disappointed to try again with another dentist.
Most enjoyable experience in my adult life.

I've never before had an experience at the dentist's office that I would call enjoyable. Usually quite the opposite. Dr. Smith is highly qualified with the demenor of a regular guy. Professional, but extremely friendly, in an office with a casual atmosphere. He and all of his staff were very kind, putting me at ease with cheery, lighthearted conversation. Pain management was exceptional. Waiting times minimal. I highly recommend Dr. Smith and his staff.

I had a tooth come loose from my dentures. My Dentist had retired and when I called his number, they had a list of dentists. The first one on the list was Hunting Hills Family Dentistry. Made an appointment to get tooth put back. They were nice and fixed denture. When I received bill, the description was âÂÂAdd tooth to partialâ and the charge was more than two times what Cigna insurance said was reasonable and customary for this area. I never saw a dentist, only the tech, and she said they would put the tooth back in. The charge was $175.00, and insurance paid $69 (100%).At the time of my appointment, my wife made an appointment to have her dentures checked. They were loose. When they checked her, they said making new dentures would not be any help because of bone loss, and worked up a Proposed Treatment Plan for non-surgical implants ($10,690). When we got the bill there was a charge of $117 for a Panoramic Film that they did not do. They turned this in to the insurance company and they paid this amount. My wife called the office and told them this was not done, and they said they had checked the wrong box, it was just a mistake, and they would return money to the insurance company. (Yeah) The Consultation was free they said.We contacted the insurance company and let them know of the discrepancy.

I was informed that my insurance did not cover certain services, which they did. I paid for the extra services at the time of serivce, with the understanding that I would be reimbursed. My insurance paid immediately but it took over a year for Hunting Hills Dentistry to reimburse me. They were rude and insolent and attempted to conceal a double payment. They are not trustworthy...

We were also ripped off by this practice.
The billing dept is clueless
by Patient , 08/05/2014
They do not know how to file a claim. They over charge. They double bill and collect double payments. They try to sway you with their fancy furniture, TVs, and ear piece telephones. If you can't trust them with your money, why would you trust them with your teeth... Dishonest!!!
Don't go here

The dental hygienists and dentist are both nice, but the billing department and receptionist are extremely rude and clueless. They will overcharge you.

I just loved my old dentist and didn't want to dump him BUT let me tell you, it was so worth it! He is the BEST dentist and his staff is excellent. You are treated like gold there! His asst., Lori is the sweetest woman. And Shirley at the front desk is like a favorite aunt. And while you are in the chair, you get to watch TV with no kids around! I highly recommend his office if for no other reason than to be spoiled for a little while. There were kids there who had just been seen and they were smiling! THEY even liked it. Take it from me, make that appointment today!
Best Dental Visit!

The office was beautiful and state of the art. Each exam room had a tv which was great. The dentist and staff were all so friendly. I couldn't be happier with the care that I received.
