A Serious Warning regarding the “care” provided by Highsmith Rainey!!!

Early in my pregnancy, I developed an infection and was prescribed antibiotics by another provider to which I had a severe reaction (noted on the information sheet of the medication). I went to Highsmith Raineyâs Express Care service due to this reaction (the cause of which I was not aware at the time). Without going into the entire story, several aspects of my experience are important to note for potential patients regarding the sub-standard care that I received. First, I waited over two hours to be triaged. Second, the intake nurse left the door open while discussing my medical information (violating my HIPAA rights). Third, when I was asked to give a urine sample, I was instructed to use the public toilet in the hallway outside of the urgent care, which was filthy with urine and pubic hair. Then, I had to carry my own unmarked urine specimen through the waiting area to the nurseâs office, knock on the door, and hand it to her while she was meeting with another patient. Fourth, once I was led into a room, another nurse informed me that of two reasons I could not be treated there: they did not have proper equipment, and they were closed. The physicianâs assistant came in and I asked him about this. He assured me that he could treat me. I was asked by four different medical personnel to give a urine sample, to which I replied that I already had. They appeared unaware of this fact. Furthermore, I alerted them of my allergies and again asserted that my symptoms were unrelated to the pregnancy. The physicianâs assistant stated that he needed to do a pelvic exam to ârule outâ problems with the pregnancy. He then stated that he would do STD tests, which I did not consent to. He stated it was routine, and I told him that I did not wish to have them conducted and only consented to a pelvic exam. I also stated that the symptoms did not appear to be related to the pregnancy. The end result: he did a pelvic exam and either did the tests anyway or charged me for tests that were not conducted. I never received the results of the tests, and it has been six months. They missed the medication reaction in spite of that being the only medication I was taking AND the fact that I had told them of my allergy to corn (which was an ingredient in the medication). I received NO medical treatment and was discharged with the diagnosis: pregnant. I found out two days later that the medication was causing my extreme sickness. I was then charged for the STD tests. After months of filing complaints, there has still be no resolution and the staff have âdetermined through their investigationâ that they were not in the wrong. DO NOT GO HERE if you are seeking competent and professional medical treatment, as you will not receive it!!!!!
