We have been entertaining children of all ages for close to forty years! High country Gems was established in 1971 by Lee and Peggy Mestas and their past customers still come in and ask about them. Matt & Anita MacQueen bought the store from the Mestas about 10 years ago and hired Patti to entertain the troops. Eight years of being paid to playat High Country resulted in matt offering the store to Patti, and the short story is that Patti purchased it in 2008. In her words Surprise! I'm growing up to be a Rock Star! Patti Rock Star continues the tradition of entertaining generations of rock lovers and the child within us all with a constantly changing inventory of interesting goodies- thatmakes visiting the store an adventure every time. Patti covers the "basic" for rockhounds, including books & rocktumblers, rock hammers & gold pans and her focus is on customer service & providing a large variety of crystals, minerals & fossils as well as jewelry & carvings & unique one of a kind items.
