We offer both epidural and natural unmediated births. Women are free to labor and birth in any position they desire. There are jacuzzi tubs/showers in every labor room. The staff and nurses who assist Laurie in her office and at the hospital support your choices during labor and birth.

Laurie states, "when it comes time to choose the type of delivery you desire, I will facilitate the labor and delivery process from start to finish. My goal is to support and nurture you through your pregnancy, labor and birth, whether you choose a natural birth or one assisted by pain medications or epidural anesthesia."

Laurie provides medical care, health education and support services to women in all phases of their lives. From the first gynecological exam, to pregnancy and childbirth and through menopause, she is committed to treating each patient with the utmost respect, care and sensitivity.

"As a Certified Nurse Midwife, (CNM), I am educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery. I graduated in 1977 from Westminister College, with a bachelors of science degree in nursing. I worked as a RN in labor and delivery at LDS Hospital for over 15 years, before I returned to school to further my education. After obtaining a masters of science in nurse-midwifery at the University of Utah, I worked as a CNM at LDS Hospital until I moved to Cedar City in 1997. I opened the first nurse midwifery practice here in Cedar City. I am certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives. I am licensed by the state of Utah. I have collaborative relationships with both family practice and OB/GYN physicians with whom I can confer, consult or refer patients who may have a high risk pregnancy or additional health concerns. I am licensed to prescribe medications. The processes of licensure and certification ensure the consumer that I have met national and state standards for safe, effective practice."
