Description

Griffith United Methodist Preschool and Daycare is licensed by the State of Nevada and has served the community since 1963.

We have a wonderful four-room infant/toddler program staffed by experienced, nurturing caregivers. The infant room is for newborns through nine months. The three toddlers' rooms are divided into age-appropriate groups, and the caregivers begin a toilet-training program when the child is ready for that important step. A low teacher/child ratio is maintained. A separate playground area is provided for infants and toddlers.
Infant/Toddler hours are 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Our preschool program includes 3- and 4-year-olds. We are utilizing the High/Scope Assessment program with our curriculum, ensuring that our children are ready for the transition to kindergarten.

As part of the weekly curriculum, children receive music and movement classes and we will be incorporating Spanish instruction twice a week beginning in September, 2009.

Children's Chapel is held every week as part of the regular learning experience. Chapel is designed to enhance the children's understanding of Christian concepts of love and respect, presented in a non-denominational, age-appropriate manner.

We have a licensed, private, full-day kindergarten program as well as a before-and-after-school program for ages six through twelve.

We have a bus which transports children to and from our neighborhood schools. Griffith also offers a Track Break program for ages six through twelve.

We work with childcare subsidy programs and our entire staff is CPR certified and involved in continuing Early Childhood Education classes.

Griffith is a year-round school providing the more academic curriculum from September through May and a recreational Summer Camp during the summer months. Camp consists of theme weeks which touch on other cultures, 'Olympic' events, and global awareness among other things. Campers age five and up go on field trips. In addition to our year-round students, Camp is open to older children who are out of school for the summer or on Track Break.

Pizza lunch is available every Friday for $4.50 excluding the months of June, July and August.

We provide snacks twice daily. Free milk is served at snack and lunchtime under a USDA Special Milk Program grant administered by the Nevada Dept. of Education - Office of Child Nutrition and School Health.
