Attorney Gerald, Was born and raised in Fayetteville, NC so it gives me a special sense of pride to represent people from my hometown. My wife, who is also a native of Fayetteville, and I are committed to serving our community. After graduating from Westover High School in 1996 my interest in law began.
I enrolled and graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. After college, I began working at the Marion County Juvenile Justice Complex in Indianapolis, IN. I worked as the program coordinator which entailed coordinating the religious programs and mentoring young men about their attitudes toward their legal matters. I later traveled to Michigan where I obtained my Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law. While in law school, I was a captain on the Appellate Moot Court Team and received an award as the Top Oralist in 2007. I also did an internship with the Michigan Court of Appeals and worked with a prominent criminal defense attorney.
I was born in Chadbourn, NC, which is located in Columbus County which is about 50 miles south of Fayetteville. After Graduating from West Columbus High School in 1997, I joined the Army Reserves as a Chemical Operations Specialist. After completing Basic Training and Advance Individual Training (AIT) at Fort McClellan, Alabama, I enrolled at East Carolina University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
Enrolling in Appalachian School of Law (ASL) in 2002, I completed my first year of study making the Dean's list Spring 2003. I clerked at the North Carolina Department of Justice in summer of 2003 and interned at the Community Health Law Project, Collingswood, New Jersey the following summer of 2004. Furthermore, as an active participant in the ASL Community, I was an appointed as an ASL Ambassador in addition to being elected Chief Justice of the Honor Court by my fellow 3Ls. I also won the "Random Acts of Kindness" and the "Spirit of ASL" awards as a first and third year law student.
Graduating from Appalachian 2005 with my Juris Doctorate, I started to work at the Cumberland County Public Defenders' Office as an Assistant Public Defender in 2006. After two years of service to the indigent citizens of Fayetteville, I hung my own shingle as a solo-practitioner. After almost 4 years in private practice, myself and Attorney Gerald decided to form a partnership based upon our love for the criminal justice system and our dedication to providing quality legal services to others in need in Cumberland and the surrounding counties.
