We have eaten at the Garden House several time and have found the food to be good to excellent. However, we have found the servive to be very poor. For example, my wife and I stopped by to eat in June and found ourselves and two other couple waiting and waiting to bee seated, though there were many empty tables in view. We asked the host why were weren't being seated and he said it was due to a lack of servers. We saw at least two servers and were wondering why the host couldn't help. After about 15 minutes of being totally ignored, all the waiting couple one-by-one left. As for us, we weny to another fine restaurant in Cedar City and were immediately seated, even though the customer-to-server ratio was no better. Having been in the resturant business all my life, it is my observation that the Garden House was lacking a quality manager or owner on the premises when we were there, and the workers were very unsure of what to do or how to treat a customer. If you like your food served hot, then the Garden House is not for you. While their menu selection is far superior to the average Cedar City restaurant, their chef is big on snooty and low on talent. My most recent excursion left me with a half eaten stuffed salmon that resembled a dry roll of parchment stuffed with bland potatoes. A far cry from the moist and delicate seafood treat to which I am accustomed from more sophisticated environs. I guess that is what passes for good eats in this backwater town.
