Tank Removal:

The tank is emptied of all oil, water or sludge residue. The tank is removed from the ground along with the fill pipe and vent pipe. The site is backfilled and any grass or shrubs that had to be moved during the tank removal are carefully replaced.

Tank Decommissioning:

The tank is emptied of all oil, water or sludge residue. After cleaning, the tank is filled with inert material and the fill pipe and vent pipe are removed. In some jurisdictions filling the tank with inert material is not required. Again, any grass or shrubs that had to be moved during deommissioning are carefully replaced.
