With over four decades in practice as a podiatrist, David J. Kaplan, DPM, is an expert in diagnosing and treating ailments that affect the foot and ankle. He welcomes new and existing patients to FootCare Specialists, Inc. in San Mateo and Half Moon Bay, California.Dr. Kaplan earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now part of Kent State University) in Cleveland. He went on to complete a comprehensive foot and ankle residency program in the Detroit area at the former Memorial Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Dr. Kaplan then became the director of the podiatric residency program at Sidney A. Sumby Memorial Hospital in River Rouge, Michigan.Because providing the latest research-driven treatments is important to Dr. Kaplan, he continues his education through ongoing courses and training. Dr. Kaplan maintains his board certification through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He holds professional memberships with the American Podiatric Medical Association and the California Podiatric Medical Association.
