We exist to fulfill the Great Commission, as a healthy, visible and growing community of Christ followers, experiencing and leading others into an authentic, Spirit-filled life.
For your spiritual health, we encourage you to do three things - plug in, charge up and live out.
Plug in, connecting to the source of power — Jesus Christ and his people. This is done privately through personal prayer and Bible reading and through family prayer times. It is done publicly through specifically designed worship services, where we are able to join together in worship and learn from the Word. On Sunday, we have plug-in opportunities for children, with True North Children’s Church coinciding with our two services at 8:15 and 11:00 a.m. During the week, our youth gather together to worship the Lord in United and ONE. Don’t wait for the weekend to plug in! These worship services are public expressions of what is happening in your own life!
Charge up when you are plugged into God, you can charge up your spiritual batteries. Life is hard, there are plenty of bumps and bruises throughout the day that take energy from us. That is why we must stay charged up. We charge up by connecting with other plugged-in believers. The scripture says to encourage each other in the Lord. Des Moines First Assembly offers discipleship classes on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. There are also small groups nearly every day of the week in which to charge up.
Live out, you are plugged in, charged up and ready to live out the faith that resounds in your soul. When His love fills us, it is a natural response to share that love. We do that through serving others. Many avenues of service are available to live out what is happening in your faith. We have plenty of opportunities to serve within the church by being a host, helping with the food pantry, teaching children, and a plethora of other ministries. We have also partnered with organizations in our community to come alongside them as they live out the faith in the public square.
