Simply Music has students learn piano in a way that is profoundly different from traditional, 'reading-based' music lessons. We offer everything from beginner piano and keyboard lessons, through to teaching composition, improvisation, arrangement, accompaniment, blues, jazz, reading music, writing music, transposing music etc., and all of this done through the lens of Simply Music's unique, 'playing-based' perspective.

There are four distinguishing features that separate Simply Music from other, traditional programs:                   
The quantity of music that students learn
The quality of music that students learn
How quickly the students learn to play
How easily students learn to play

The Curriculum
The Simply Music curriculum unfolds over a period of six years (or more), depending on various factors - the age of the student, the time  student's invest in practicing, whether or not they have had prior experience etc. Most beginning students spend their first three years participating in the Simply Music Foundation Program, where they are taught the 'base-tools' that are at the heart of the Simply Music method. In years 4-6, student’s progress into Simply Music's Development Program, which advances their musicianship, broadens their knowledge and experience and more fully rounds out their entire music learning experience.

Simply put, Babies, Toddlers and Kids Make Music parent child classes is a music and movement program. Each week in class you’ll play, listen, and dance to music that will impact you and your child in profound ways. That’s because every song, story, and two-step has a carefully chosen purpose in this creative curriculum—one that’s designed to stimulate and strengthen the vital neural wiring taking place in your child’s mind, right now. Miss Ruth will guide you every step of the way so you know how each activity contributes to your child’s overall growth and development.

Its a child-centered curricula which incorporates current research and my own 30-years’ experience in music and child development.
I strive to combined the best music learning methods found in Orff, Kodaly, and Delacroze and Suzuki.

Instruments and CDs from class let you take learning home with you and wherever you go. All while strengthening the emotional bond between you and your child.

So whether it’s twirling under a sea of scarves, experimenting with age-appropriate instruments, singing about a scampering squirrel, creating a musical ensemble, or snuggling in your lap during story time, Kids Make Music speaks your child’s language and offers her (and you!) a warm comfortable atmosphere and where life gets better.
