Great on the Inside by momontherun - 02/14/2009Once you drive past the buildings in grave need of replacement and get inside, you see the amazing educational environment of a private school in action. Expensive tuition buys your child an individualized program with classes of no more than 16. Evergreen Academy has a separate Montessori preschool and a traditional elementary which for the 2009-2010 school year will include 6th grade for the first time. Education depends on who teaches it and the experience we have had so far has far exceeded what public school offered. Teachers are warm, responsive and attune to each child's needs. They teach to the whole class while tailoring each child's education to their own ability. The administration runs thin and the OPT is helpful but both could do more towards uniting the school population, which is quite geographically diverse. A great education if you are willing to pay and make the drive. An emphasis is placed on a family feel and you can bet the principal will know your name.
