Purchased a dress at Elegance Bridal Salon for my daughter's wedding and had it altered there. The dress was originally too big. When I returned to pick up the dress, the dress was tight and pulling. Layers of skin draped over the dresses back and front. I kept telling the sales' staff that the dress was too tight, too tight, but they insisted it looked great, telling me how pretty the dress was and that it was supposed to fit tight to look nice. They also told me the dress would stretch slightly after wearing it. I took the dress home and tried it on for my husband and friends. EVERYONE agreed the dress was way to tight. And this was way more than just three people's opinions. The skin on my back actually folded over. I am not so disappointed that an error was made in the dress' alteration as I am disappointed in the fact that three of the sales staff let me walk out the door with that dress saying that it looked fine. When I called the store to make an appointment to bring the dress back, Janet the sales person was very rude. When asked if the dress could be fixed , she told me in a very snotty voice that she did not know she was not a seamstress. Nor did she offer to ask the seamstress or get the seamstress on the phone. Needless to say, the dress was fixed. I got to give them that. No skin hanging over the edges, no folded back. I wish I had taken pictures of how bad that dress looked. But I had to wait a week to get the dress back again, sitting on pins and needles. There was no rush made for me. I remained kind and considerate to the shop through this whole ordeal. After the wedding I called the shop to talk with the owner. I just wanted her to know how disappointed I was that the staff let me walk out of the shop telling me the dress looked great on me. Her response to me was that people have different opinions. And the funny thing is the owner Charlotte is the one who came in and readjusted the dress. She saw it for herself. At the time I did not know she was the owner. Since her staff were the only ones to say this dress looked fine when skin was being pinched out of the dress, I don't highly recommend anyone listening to their opinions. I, too, am disappointed in the owner's response to me. All I wanted was for her to acknowledge the lack of professionalism in her staff. I didn't call to complain about the error in the alterations. Things happen. By the end of the phone conversation, Charlotte and I also disagreed as to how many inches the dress had to be let out. When I left the shop for a second time, it was clear by the pins she marked it with that the dress needed to be let out 3 - 4 inches. The dress was unzipped a good 6" down my back. I truly was confused as to how they were going to fix it. Charlotte insisted it was only an inch that needed to be let out. This is when I realized why her staff let me walk out the door. The owner was no better. Phone conversation ended. It wasn't my intention to write a review, but wow, how could I not. The shop took no accountability for their actions and that was all I wanted. I never asked for money back, never asked for a refund. Never complained about the mistake in the dress. Just called to let her know the poor customer services of her staff. Will definitely never shop here again. And if you do, I recommend you go elsewhere for alterations.
