Grace B. Duran has more than 32 years legal experience on both the state and federal levels. She was the first woman ever elected as a District Judge in the Third Judicial District, which encompasses all of Doña Ana County. She is a recipient of the Outstanding Judicial Service Award from the State Bar of New Mexico. Prior to becoming a judge, she was the first person ever selected as a Child Support Hearing Officer and Special Commissioner for Domestic Violence in Doña Ana County. While still serving as State District Judge, Duran was selected for a new federal position with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in San Juan, Puerto Rico. For nearly one-and-a-half years, Duran served as a liaison between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Puerto Rico. She has since re-established a private practice in New Mexico and is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law.
