December 2010: I had an outstanding experience playing the Steinway piano Horowitz owned, which was at Dunkley Music this week. My hands just flew over the keys - even my husband was surprised! The overall balance of the piano from the low bass up through the high treble notes was amazing - I didn't have to constantly make adjustments between melody and accompaniment parts. It was like ice skating on the keys to have them respond so fast. This experience was a Postlude to the time I played this same piano many years ago - it may have been in 1993 when I took my teen-age daughter to Dunkley's to join me in playing it. While there, I found her a great piano teacher who had just moved to Boise. My daughter went on to become a choir teacher in Seattle, and I went on to get my Master's in Piano at BSU, thanks in part to a Dunkley Piano scholarship. I'm grateful to Dunkley piano for providing inspiration and incentives for musicians.
