I stayed at Town Inn Suites for one month on business in December. I had read some reviews and was a little nervous, but my company already had me booked as the rate was so reasonable for a downtown hotel. I have to say I was happily surprised at the condition of the room, and the quality of the furnishings. The duvet was new and white and clean, the sofas were leather and in perfect condition, and the carpeting was fine. Wireless internet was fast. I wouldnt say it was a Hilton, but it was a great three star suite and I would definitely return. The staff was helpful and friendly, Mag the Assistant GM in particular, and it was very nice to have all the amenities of a suite, instead of just a hotel room with a microwave. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who will be in the city for an extended period of time from two days to two months as a great deal and nice place to stay downtown right near the subway.

Every time I come through Homer I end up eating at Don Jose's at least once, which is fine. It's your run of the mill local mexican joint. The food is edible and the prices are a bit inflated, but, then again, it is Homer, Alaska. This place is good when you want an easy place to walk in and get food.

Don Jose's is a good value for decent Mexican food. Service is always friendly, too. It's definitely not Tex Mex, but many dishes are close enough I guess... They do have a fresh salsa, VERY good house margaritas, and some standout items such as the Chili Verde (slow-cooked pork in a delicious green sauce)

A real sleeper of a restaurant. The food is excellent, a comfortable atmosphere, and the selection is very good. The prices are moderate and we've had good experiences there repeatedly. Try the Arroz Con Pollo and the torilla soup. Enchiladas are also excellent. I recommend this place whole heartedly. Drinks are fair priced, the chips are fresh and the service is good.

Here's the deal. The reviewers who gave this place one or two stars don't get it. It's totally a homely, family place. Don't go expecting some gourmet extra special meal. If you want a Mexican dish and you're not feeling adventurous, then go here. The food is good and the servers, always friendly and sweet. The decor is slightly outdated but in a totally unassuming way. I live for their salsa. My family (3 people) can go through about 12 little bowls of it throughout a whole meal. It's chunky, fresh, and sooo tasty.
