What Is Urgent Care? - Urgent care refers to the medical treatment of non-emergent conditions, including a full range of illnesses and injuries that need prompt attention, but are not life-threatening if not treated immediately. Examples of "urgent care" conditions would include sprains, minor fractures, lacerations, minor burns, flu, bronchitis and other upper respiratory illnesses. Patients with urgent care medical problems often become ill when their family physician offices are closed. These people generally prefer not to wait in crowded emergency rooms where the more critically ill patients are treated first and the bills are considerably higher. Urgent care offices can offer patients skilled medical care for minor illnesses at a lower cost than emergency rooms and with a quicker turnaround time for the office visit. Patients are frequently referred back to their family physician for follow up as needed. Flex Spending Credit Cards and Health Savings Accounts Credit Cards and Insurance
