Decatur Utilities provides electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater services in the greater Decatur, Ala., area. Serving more than 30,000 customers in the Tennessee Valley region, the company provides for residential and commercial locations. Decatur Utilities is a municipal utility owned by the City of Decatur. Decatur Utilities is the operating name of the Municipal Utilities Board of Decatur, Morgan County, Ala. Local Act No. 89 of the Alabama Legislature in 1939 created the Board. Customers are billed once a month for service used the previous month. A late fee is assessed on any amount not paid by the due date shown on the bill. Customers are given five days past their due date to pay the current charges without any interruption of service.
